Williams Nets First Cal Goal Against Demon Deacons
BERKELEY, Calif. – The California women's soccer team faced No. 3 Wake Forest in a Thursday evening matchup at Edwards Stadium, with the Golden Bears falling 3-1.
Wake Forest opened the scoring in the 35th minute. Neither team found the back of the net again in the first half, sending the Demon Deacons into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Sophomore transfer defender/midfielder Annamarie Williams scored her first career goal as a Golden Bear to equalize the match.
Wake Forest found the net in the 77th and 84th minutes to regain the lead and secure the victory.
The Bears return home Sunday for their third ACC matchup of the season, facing Louisville at 1 p.m. PT. The match will be followed by the Cal men's soccer team taking on Pittsburgh at 4 p.m. Both matches will air on ACCNX.
