AS A SOPHOMORE (1999): Started 47 games, 46 games in right field and one game in left field…batted .253 with 10 doubles, two home runs and 25 RBI…had an outstanding series Mar. 5-7 at Tennessee, going 6-for-13 with two doubles, a home run and four RBI…went 1-for-4 with a double and a career-high three RBI Mar. 5 against the Volunteers, and then was a career-high 4-for-5 with a double and a home run Mar. 7 at Tennessee…other top games include going 2-for-3 with with a double and two RBI Mar. 9 versus Santa Clara and 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI May 2 versus Arizona…had 11 multiple hit games during the season and ended the year on a nine-game hitting streak (from Apr. 27, 12-for-34, 3-2B, HR, 7 RBI)…
AS A FRESHMAN (1998): Was named the co-winner of the George Wolfman Award as the team's most improved player, along with pitcher Ryan Atkinson…was third on the team with a .349 batting average and on the mound was 1-2 with a 10.47 ERA and a save…started 27 games in right field and one game at first base…had 16 relief appearances, picking up the win May 2 versus Arizona (1.0 inning, one hit, one run, one walk, one strikeout) and the save Apr. 21 versus San Francisco (1.0 inning, two hits, no runs, one strikeout)…had three strikeouts in 1.3 innings Mar. 16 versus Washington State…went 4-for-6 with a double and two RBI Apr. 28 versus Santa Clara…other top games included going 3-for-5 Mar. 7 at Minnesota and 3-for-3 Mar. 15 versus Washington State…concluded the '98 season on an eight-game hitting streak (15-for-34, 2B, HR, four RBI)...
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL: At De La Salle High School in Concord teamed-up with fellow Cal player Jason Dennis to lead his team to two straight North Coast Section Championships and two-year record of 47-7...batted .425 as a junior and .335 as a senior...in the summer of 1997 earned all-tournament honors at the Sunbelt Classic in Shawnee, OK…in the summer of 1998 played for the Oakland Expos, batting .516 with five doubles, three home runs and 19 RBI…in the summer of 1999 played for the Santa Barbara Foresters...majoring in social welfare...parents are Bill and Christine Meyer...born December 15, 1978 in Monterey, CA.
