Maggi Kelly Bio - The University of California Official Athletic Site

Assisting the Cal women's water polo coaching staff for the fourth year is Maggi Kelly, former Cal and USA National Team standout. A member of the USA National Team for 10 years (1987-94, 1997-98), Kelly competed in four World Championships. In 1992, she was named USWP Female Athlete of the Year and in 1994 she was the top U.S. scorer (No. 4 in the world) at the World Championship in Rome, Italy. Kelly also played for the British National Team from 1985-86 and competed for England at the 1986 World Championship in Madrid, Spain. Kelly, who grew up in Berkeley and attended Berkeley High School, graduated from Cal with a degree in geography in 1987. She went on to get her master's in computer applications-geography from the University of North Carolina in 1991 and earned her Ph.D. from the University of Colorado in 1996. Currently an adjunct Assistant Professor and Cooperative Extension Specialist in GIS and Remote Sensing in UC Berkeley's Department of Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management, Kelly is also the director of UC Berkeley's Center for the Assessment and Monitoring of Forest and Environmental Resources. She serves on the USWP, Inc. Executive Council and is Chair of the USWP, Inc. Athlete Representative Committee.
