Scott Bishop enters his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Cal women's volleyball team.
Bishop has several years of collegiate coaching experience as he was most recently assistant women's volleyball coach at San Francisco State during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. He has also been the head women's volleyball coach at Los Medanos Community College from 1997-98, assistant women's volleyball coach at San Francisco in 1996 and the head women's volleyball coach at Holy Names College in Oakland in 1995.
Bishop was a standout volleyball player as well, helping lead the Cal men's volleyball team to four national titles in five seasons as a Golden Bear. He was a four-time Collegiate All-American and was twice named National Collegiate MVP. In April of 1991, Bishop was named Sports Illustrated "Old Spice" Athlete of the Month.
A native of Montclair, Bishop attended Skyline High School in Oakland and graduated from Cal in 1994 with a degree in environmental sciences. He and his wife, Grace, reside in Berkeley.
