Joe DeBise Bio - The University of California Official Athletic Site

An excellent athlete with a penchant for big hits...has good size and figures to push hard for a spot in the starting line-up by mid-season...still inexperienced as he only participated in the latter part of spring drills to concentrate on his academics...coaches believe he could quickly develop into the best tackler in Cal's secondary...figures to immediately make an impact as a special teams player...

1999...redshirted his first season at Cal.

High School/Personal: A prep who transferred prior to his senior year and thus was overlooked by some in the recruiting process...caught the Cal coaches' attention with great stats in 1998, including 121 tackles, 16 for loss, a pair of interceptions (one of which was returned for a TD), 6 caused fumbles and 4 recovered fumbles...also blocked three punts as a prep...played at Luther Burbank HS as a junior before transferring to Grant...born Oct. 4, 1980.
