Staubes is in her second year at Cal after playing two seasons at San Diego Mesa College…she saw her playing time and contributions increase towards the second half of her junior season…gave the Bears an emotional lift when the team injury bug hit hardest last year…expected to see playing time at both guard positions...excellent floor leader...can score from the perimeter and by taking the ball to the basket…accurate free throw shooter.
As a junior in 1999-00:
Averaged 1.6 ppg and 0.5 rpg in 22 games, primarily as a reserve…awarded consecutive starts at Oregon, Feb. 12, and at home vs. Stanford, Feb. 18…the Oregon start was her best game of the season, as she had career-highs of 10 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 block in 33 minutes of action…also posted 6 points vs. both Oregon State (Feb. 10) and Washington (Feb. 24)…during a four-game Pac-10 stretch from Feb. 10-24, she averaged 20.1 minutes per game…overall averaged 7.3 mpg and 8.5 mpg during the Pac-10 season…converted on 9-of-10 free throw attempts during the season…sang the national anthem before several games.
At San Diego Mesa College:
In her two years at Mesa College, she led her team to two conference championships and was selected first team all-conference twice…as a sophomore in 1998-99, led her team to a 23-7 record…earned Pacific Coast Conference MVP honors, averaging a team-best 15.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.6 steals a game…earned second team all-state and played in the California junior college all-star game along with current teammate, Nicole Ybarra…as a freshman in 1997-98, led her team to a 27-4 record.
High School:
As a senior at Scripps Ranch High School, named first team all-league and second team All-CIF after averaging 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 1 blocked shot per game…also as a senior, led her team to a 31-0 record and the Division II CIF championship...attended El Cajon Valley High School for three years before transferring to Scripps Ranch...led El Cajon as a junior with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 1 block per game...at El Cajon, also competed in track, tennis and swimming for a year each.

Rebecca Jade Staubes was born Oct. 26, 1978, in New York, NY...parents are Eric Staubes and Leslie Green...has an older step-brother, Ray Collazo…enjoys a wide variety of sports, including boogie boarding and rollerblading...enjoys singing, acting and modeling...received a liberal arts degree in junior college...dramatic arts major at Cal...is also taking pre-medicine classes with the intent of pursuing a career as a veterinarian.
