Coached by Ky Ebright … won the gold medal in the 1948 Olympics … to get to the Olympics, had to defeat Washington in the Olympic Trials; Washington had already handed the Bears their only two defeats of the year, as the Bears finished 10-2 … a member of the Helms Hall of Fame … team members were:  George Ahlgren, David Brown, Lloyd Butler, James Hardy, Ralph Purchase, Justus Smith, John Stack, David Turner and Ian Turner.
