Jake Macauley

Jake Macauley is in his second season as an assistant director of football technology at Cal.

Macauley works independently to provide day-to-day video operations to support coaches, including scouting film and practice film in use for strategic game planning during the season and spring ball. He independently maintains, troubleshoots and diagnoses 50 video workstations for functionality and performance. He assists with the forecast, purchase and implementation of new hardware and software technologies to improve efficiencies of workflow and coaching. He also assists in the acquisition, editing and distribution of video content to fulfill all Pac-12 Network requests pertaining to sports housed at the Simpson Center. He provides video services for recruiting events, and also maintains, troubleshoots and diagnoses all meeting rooms.

Before heading to Berkeley, Macauley served as the Southern Texas Section manager of communications for PGA of America from 2014-15. His responsibilities there included managing and updating the company websites and social media accounts, designing and composing weekly e-newsletters for both professional and junior golf databases and producing graphic and creative arts for marketing and promotional materials. In 2013, he was in a similar role as an intern for the Northern Texas section.   

From 2010-13, as an undergraduate at Colorado, Macauley served as an assistant film and operations coordinator for the Buffaloes’ men’s basketball program. He helped the program with scouting videos and running film sessions with the team. From 2011-13, he was in a similar role as a sports video assistant for the Colorado football program.

Macauley received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Colorado in 2013.
