Volunteer coach Jay McDaniel is in his his 24th season with the Bears, joining the Cal staff in 2002.
McDaniel is the widower of former Cal head coach Nancy McDaniel and has been a PGA Class “A” Member since 1993, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program. The team’s swing technician, McDaniel also acts as the local intermediary between the player and their personal coach.
A Head Golf Professional for 24 years and PGA Certified Professional in Golf Operations and Teaching, McDaniel brings a positive approach to the game and a keen eye for the swing. McDaniel has served as the Head Professional at Claremont Country Club since 1999 and is also the Head Pro at Brookside Country Club and Lake Merced Golf Club.
McDaniel previously served on the Northern California PGA Board of Directors and is also the assistant professional at Chartwell Country Club and The Links at Spanish Bay. Jay has a son, Tyler, and daughter, Molly.
