California women's gymnastics added the Golden Bears' most decorated gymnast in program history,
Mya Lauzon, to its coaching staff for the 2026 season. Lauzon returns to Berkeley in her first career coaching role after graduating from the university in the spring of 2025.
Lauzon racked up the accolades in her time as a student-athlete in Berkeley, claiming back-to-back bronze medals in the balance beam with a 9.95 at the NCAA Championships in 2024 and 2025. She earned four WCGA All-American honors (First Team: AA, FX - Second Team: UB, BB) and took home a share of the 2025 NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional beam title.
Lauzon was crowned Atlantic Coast Conference Gymnast of the Year in 2025, making her the first Bear to ever earn the title in Cal's inaugural season as a member of the conference. Lauzon was one of just two gymnasts to be named All-ACC in all five disciplines and earned a record six ACC Gymnast of the Week awards. She ended the regular season ranked in the Top 25 in every event and led the Bears with 32 event wins and 52 podium finishes in 2025. Highlights of her senior season included two walk-off wins on floor, which included a perfect 10 over rival Stanford; it was her first-ever 10 on floor, which brought her just a perfect bar routine shy of a career gym slam.
As a junior, Lauzon was a member of Cal's 2024 national runner-up squad - the Bears' highest team finish in school history – and individually was named the College Gym News Breakout Performer of the Year. She capped the 2024 season with four WCGA All-America honors (First Team - AA, V, BB; Second-Team - FX), three NCAA All-America honors (First-Team - A, V, BB) and finished fourth on vault and in the all-around at the NCAA Championships. She made history as the first Bear to score a perfect 10 on two different events (V, BB) and to score perfectly in the postseason. She tallied the 13th-most points in a single season in NCAA history, despite not competing in every meet, and claimed two NCAA Regional titles (V, BB) in addition to a pair of Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week honors.
Lauzon's true breakout season came in her sophomore year when she notched 27 top-three finishes and 15 event wins. She earned three WCGA All-American and three NCAA All-American honors (First Team – V, BB; Second-Team FX) and was First-Team All-Pac-12 in the same events. Lauzon was the first Bear to ever win the Pac-12 title in balance beam and score a perfect 10 in the event.
As a freshman, she recorded eight scores of 9.90 or better in her debut season, clinching five top-three finishes, including two event titles. She finished second on beam at the 2022 NCAA Regional Final and recorded top-eight finishes on both beam and floor at the NCAA Regional Semifinals.
Prior to Cal, Lauzon was a two-time Junior Olympic National Team Member who claimed two top-three all-around finishes at Junior Olympic Nationals as she took third in 2018 and second in 2019.
Lauzon, a Kent, Washington native and member of the Metropolitan Gymnastics club, collected seven top-10 event finishes across her four appearances at nationals, including winning the vault title in 2019.
Lauzon completed a clean sweep at the 2018 Region 2 Championships as she won the vault, bars, beam, floor and all-around competitions. She took ninth place at the prestigious 2019 Nastia Liukin Cup in 2019 and, the same year, led Metropolitan Gymnastics to a 2019 Washington Optional State Championship. She also helped the squad to a pair of regional program of the year awards during her time with the club.
Lauzon earned her bachelor's degree in nutrition and metabolic biology from Cal.
