Biography

2021-22: Capped a strong freshman season by competing in the NCAA Singles Championship…earned All-Pac-12 second-team honors and ITA Scholar-Athlete status…finished the year with records of 32-9 in singles (leading Cal in singles wins) and 23-9 in doubles as well as with final rankings of No. 70 in singles and No. 74 in doubles with Erin Richardson…ended the year ranked sixth in singles and with Richardson ranked fourth in doubles in the ITA Northwest Region…Alsola played most of the dual-match season at court-two singles, at which she had an 11-5 record, and court-two doubles, at which she was 9-2 (including 9-1 paired with Katja Wiersholm)…named the Pac-12 Player of the Week after leading Cal to a 2-0 dual-match start, Alsola picked up a big win in ninth-ranked Cal's 4-3 win over No. 2 Pepperdine on Jan. 22, defeating the 30th-ranked Victoria Flores at court-three singles, 6-3, 7-6(5), in Malibu…she earned the first dual-match clinching win of her young career when she beat Emily Dush, 6-4, 6-2, in Cal’s 4-0 win over Utah in the Pac-12 quarterfinals…on Jan. 21, Alsola beat Camille Kiss, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, in Cal's 6-1 rout of UC Santa Barbara…in the fall, Alsola reached the singles and, with Richardson, the doubles semifinals of the ITA Northwest Regional Championships…Alsola and Richardson collected an at-large invitation to the ITA National Fall Championships, with the pair reaching the doubles second round.

Personal/Previous: Undeclared major…born in the Philippines, Alsola moved with her family to Ontario, Canada, as a child before they finally settled in Fresno, California. She garnered top rankings as a junior in Canada – she was ranked seventh in doubles and eighth in singles at the under-14 level and fourth in singles as a U-12 player…in singles in 2021, she won singles titles at a Las Vegas Women's $25K tournament in May, an Atlanta $25K tournament in March and a Newport Beach $25K event in January…in Newport Beach, Alsola defeated Katie Volynets, who's been ranked as high as 183rd in the WTA poll, on her way to the title…in the Atlanta tournament, Alsola knocked off Sophie Chang, who's been ranked as high as 136th by the WTA, and Savannah Broadus, who has a career-best ITF junior combined ranking of 26th, en route to the crown…in early September, Alsola reached the singles final of the Olympic Club Wildcard Challenge in San Francisco.
