Lewis comes to Berkeley after spending the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Utah, where he coached or recruited over half of Utah’s men’s top-10 all-time event performers, one NCAA All-American, three Pac-12 podium finishes, 24 Big-12 podium finishes and 12 school records. Prior to Utah, Lewis spent a season under the same title at the University of Northern Colorado where he was a part of the Bears’ women’s swimming & diving team that broke 16 school records and recorded 81 top-10 performances in program history.
A native of Greeley, Colorado, Lewis swam at Utah and qualified for the Pac-12 Championships in each of his four years with the Utes and was an NCAA B Cut Qualifier in 2017, 2018 and 2020. He owns the fourth-fastest 200 breast time in program history as well as the sixth-fastest 100 breast time. Lewis qualified for the USA Olympic Trials in 2020 in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke.
Lewis earned his master’s degree in sports coaching from Northern Colorado and his bachelor’s in kinesiology teaching with a minor in nutrition from Utah.
