Assistant Director Dean Caparaz is in his 23rd year working at his alma mater.
 
A San Francisco Bay Area product who hails from San Jose, Caparaz graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English at UC Berkeley, where the aspiring journalist covered sports for The Daily Californian. After graduation, he joined the editorial staff of Soccer America magazine in Berkeley and for the next 11 years reported on the U.S. Women’s National Team and women’s college soccer.
 
Soon after leaving Soccer America, Caparaz began working for Cal Athletic Media Relations, the precursor to Cal Athletic Communications. He has worked with 16 of Cal’s 30 teams including his current sports – men’s soccer and women’s tennis.
 
Caparaz lives in the East Bay with his wife and two daughters.
