Gordon Bayne

Gordon Bayne is in his 27th season with the Golden Bears in 2020. He was promoted to his current position of Associate Athletics Director, Sports Administration, in the fall. In this role, Bayne serves as the lead sports administrator for all 30 Cal programs and executes Cal's strategic plan, and he will support the new Associate Athletics Director for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. He also supervises Cal's beach volleyball, field hockey, softball, women's swimming & diving, and men’s water polo teams.

In his prior position of Associate Athletics Director, Event Management, Bayne and his staff coordinated all home game-day operations and activities. In addition to hIs event management duties, Bayne served as the sport supervisor for the beach volleyball, field hockey, and softball teams.

Additionally, Bayne has served as an event representative with the Oakland Coliseum Complex and the Pac-12, has worked several NBA Finals, Pac-12 Football and basketball events and an NCAA National Championship Football game.
 
A Berkeley native, Bayne received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Hampton University and his master’s degree in sports administration from Temple University. He and his wife, Tamara, live in Alameda. They have two children Kiara (23) and Marcus (15).
