Mika Costello

Mika Costello has been with Cal Athletics since June 2023 and currently serves as Associate Director, Compliance. Costello provides compliance oversight for Cross Country, Track and Field, Men's and Women's Water Polo, Women's Rowing, Women's Tennis, and Field Hockey. They also oversee financial aid for student-athletes. 

Before arriving at Cal, Costello held multiple roles at Emory University, including Graduate Assistant for Student-Athlete Development and Compliance and Assistant Director of Events for Swimming and Diving. During their tenure there, they organized student-athlete development programs, managed NCAA waivers and departmental policies, and directed large-scale athletic events such as the UAA Conference Championships and NCAA Diving Regional Meet.

Costello also previously served as the Men's and Women's Swim Assistant Coach and as a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Advisor at Willamette University. 
As a former NCAA Division III swimming student-athlete, they competed in sprint freestyle. Additionally, they represented more than 195,000 student-athletes nationwide as part of the NCAA Division III National SAAC. There, they advocated for inclusive policy initiatives, mental health support, and NIL education.

Costello earned a Master of Science in Sport Administration from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Willamette University.
