Two-time Greek Olympian Stamatia Scarvelis is in her first year aiding the development o the Bears’ throwers under assistant coach Tyler Burdorff in 2025-26.

Scarvelis has competed for Greece in the hammer throw in two Olympic Games (2021, 24) and three World Championships (2022-23, 25). She is a three-time Balkan champion (2019, 22, 25) and seven-time Greek champion (2018-19, 2021-25) in the hammer as well as a two-time Greek champion (2017-18).

As a collegian, Scarvelis competed for Tennessee from 2017-19, breaking the program record in the hammer and earning two U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) First-Team All-America nods and three SEC titles (the hammer in 2018-19 and the weight in 2019) after a two-year stint at UCLA. Scarvelis was also a Second-Team All-American in the indoor shot put (2018) and weight throw (2017) and a 2017 All-America Honorable Mention in the hammer.
