Willie McHargue joined Cal Athletics in April 2023 as a Senior Director of Development, where he generates support for all of Cal Athletics and is the primary fundraiser for the Cal Baseball and Tennis programs.
Prior to joining Cal, he spent nearly three years with the non-profit USO, which serves active service members and their families all over the world. He started as a regional fundraiser focused on Northern California before being promoted to Director of Development for the West Region (encompassing nine states).
Before the USO, Willie worked in fundraising/development roles in higher education (at Northwestern, San Jose State and Santa Clara universities) and in sports marketing/sales/sponsorship/media relations roles with the San Francisco 49ers, Stanford, TCU, Santa Clara, and his alma mater, Butler University.
Willie grew up in Fremont, California and attended college at Butler University in Indianapolis, where he walked on to the baseball team during his freshman season.
