"Our guys really showed some character tonight. I can't say enough about how well Long Beach played, and that's a credit to our guys."

On Junior Forward Sean Lampley:

"He's a leader. Those guys came at him very hard. He played through his pain and fatigue and did some great things for us. Sean has really stepped up with his leadership for us."

On Sophomore Center Solomon Hughes:

"Solomon was really thinking aggressively on the offensive end. We really needed that tonight. By the time Solomon matures, he's going to be a fine player."

On Long Beach State's Mate Milisa:

"He's a great player and we just didn't let him get going tonight. I thought our guys did a great job helping down low."

On Georgetown:

"They're for real. They've got some big players. They're a very unsung team. I think it's a great opportunity for our fans to be a part of postseason play. Our fans are great."

General Comments:

"I thought it was an extremely hard fought game. I thought we played well at the end of the first half. The first 5-7 minutes of the second half we didn't play as well as we should have played, we got down 8-10 points and at one point, 12. We started playing better & we came back, & we actually had a chance at the end, but in one respect, that was too much to overcome. I thought California played a good game."

On the End of the First Half:

"I was pleased because both of my big guys had 2 fouls and they both were out the last 4 minutes of the first half. I thought that was good to not play them for the last 4 minutes of the first half and still go into halftime with the lead."
