No. 3 Cal Men's Water Polo Wins at No. 10 UCSB, 10-5

SANTA BARBARA, CA - The No. 3 ranked Cal men's water polo team (19-5, 5-3 MPSF) upended No. 10 UC Santa Barbara (11-15, 0-7 MPSF), 10-5, Saturday afternoon at the UCSB Recreation Center Pool. The Bears were led by senior Will Quist three goals and 12 saves from senior goalie Tim Kates. Cal also had two goals apiece from freshmen Brian Kinsel and Andrija Vasiljevic.
The Bears outscored the Gauchos, 4-1, in the first period and coasted the rest of the way. Quist scored all of his three goals in the first period, and Kinsel also added a goal in the first quarter. Seniors Greg Panawek and Milos Ribic, and junior Greg Snyder, later tallied goals for Cal as well.
The Bears will next travel to No. 2 ranked Stanford, Saturday, Nov. 22 at 10 a.m. for the Big Splash at the Avery Aquatic Center on the Stanford campus. Cal is 1-2 versus the Cardinal this season - losing 10-5 Sept. 21 at the SoCal Tournament, winning 10-9 in sudden death overtime Oct. 5 to win the NorCal Tournament, and losing 10-8 Nov. 9 at Cal.
