No. 7 Cal Women's Water Polo Falls to No. 1 UCLA, 15-6

BERKELEY, CA - The No. 7-ranked Cal women's water polo team lost to No. 1-ranked and undefeated UCLA, 15-6, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Saturday at Spieker Aquatics Complex. The Golden Bears were led by junior Allison Gold's three goals, but were outscored by the Bruins 11-4 in the first half and could not recover. UCLA improved to 23-0 overall and 8-0 in the MPSF, while Cal fell to 12-8 and 3-5 in the MPSF.

Thalia Munro scored two of her three goals for the Bruins in the first period as UCLA jumped out to a 6-2 lead. Sophomore Elsie Windes and junior Katie Gold tallied the Bears' goals in the opening quarter. In the second period, Gabrielle Domanic was the Bruins' leading scorer, tallying two of her team's five goals. Gold countered for Cal with goals at 4:50 in the second period and with 29 seconds left in the first half.

Freshman Vanessa Lindsey scored the Bears' lone goal in the third period, and Gold notched her third goal of the contest at 6:09 left in the match. Munro, Kelly Rulon and Domanic finished with three goals apiece for UCLA. The Bruins Emily Feher and Cal's Alex Feune de Colombi both had seven saves at the goal.

Cal will next play No. 8 UC Santa Barbara, Sunday, Apr. 10 at 12 p.m. at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
