Cal Posts 10 NCAA Regional Qualifiers at Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. - California posted 10 NCAA regional-qualifying marks or times on Saturday at the Stanford Invitational with the Golden Bears' throws corps producing eight of those marks. On that list was Cal senior Carrie Johnson's lifetime-best 211-5 in the women's hammer throw.
That mark keeps Johnson in second place on Cal's all-time top 10 list for the hammer behind Cal throws coach Jennifer Joyce (214-0).
On the final day of the two-day Stanford meet, Bears sophomore Emilee Strot and senior teammate Kelechi Anyanwu also moved up Cal's all-time charts in the women's shot put. Strot notched a regional-qualifying and lifetime-best mark of 49-11.25 to move up to No. 5 at Cal and Anyanwu posted a regional-qualifying and lifetime-best 49-10 to rise to No. 7 in the record books.
Sophomore teammate Missy Faubus, who like Strot and Anyanwu posed regional qualifiers in the shot last week at the Jim Click Shootout, also posted a regional qualifier this week in the shot with a 49-5.5.
That same trio, which recorded regional qualifiers in the discus last week, notched regional qualifiers this week in the discus with Anyanwu tossing a 171-7, Strot throwing a 166-7 and Faubus posting a 164-9.
In the men's hammer, Cal junior John Ludden collected a regional-qualifying mark of 192-9, while in the men's high jump, Bears junior Ed Wright posted a regional qualifier of 7-1.
Cal sophomore Jordan Paul ran a regional-qualifying and lifetime-best 14.17 in the men's 110-meter hurdles. Sophomore teammate Mark Matusak paced the Bears in the 5,000, running a lifetime-best 14:16.28.
The Bears return to the Farm for the 113th Big Meet on Saturday, April 7.
