SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -
With tonight's 72-69 victory, Cal improves to 7-2 on the season. In addition, the Bears are 7-0 when leading at halftime. They led the Utes, 34-29, at the half in tonight's contest. Cal is also 6-1 this year when scoring at least 70 points.
Along with his game-high 21 points against Utah, Jerome Randle maintained his 20.3 ppg. He was 2-for-4 from the three-point line and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line. Randle is currently shooting 61 percent from three-point range and 85.2 percent from the free-throw line.
Harper Kamp posted a season-best 12 points in 27 minutes of play. He also recorded three rebounds. His career-best point total is 16, set against Jackson State on Dec. 5 of last year.
Jorge Gutierrez had a season-best three steals on Wednesday, and tied his season best in assists with four. He tallied four assists against Texas-Pan American on Nov. 20.
Jamal Boykin notched a team-best six rebounds against the Utes and currently leads the team in that category with 55, averaging 6.1 per game.
As a team, the Bears were 7-for-11 on three-pointers to lift their NCAA-leading average to 51.7%.
Cal outrebounded Utah, 32-29. The Bears are a perfect 6-0 when outrebounding their opponent this season.
Cal improved to 9-8 vs. Utah all time.
