TUCSON, Ariz. -
Mike Montgomery - California Head Coach
On game:
"As I've said many times: if we shoot the ball, we're good, and tonight we shot the ball. That's just how it is. The games we lost this year, if we had shot like this towards the end of the game then we would have won."
On Arizona:
"Hill was a load for us. He's hard to guard even on a bad ankle. Chase is another one who is pretty difficult and he made some plays tonight, but overall I felt we just played well."
On second-half adjustments:
"In the second half we didn't turn the ball over one time and that was critical. It was just a great effort."
On the Arizona crowd:
"The crowd's great here and very oriented to win. It's pretty much all Arizona fans and that's pretty huge."
Jerome Randle - Junior Guard
On whether it was the best game of his life:
"Probably on the offensive end, I would say yes. I think I even added a couple assists there towards the end. I was just feeling my shot and (Arizona) was slacking off with the zone and I was confident."
On late rebound off free throw:
"I knew it was off when I shot it. It felt a bit sticky in my hands. They weren't ready to block out and I just went up for it."
On late three with shot clock winding down:
"On plays like that, I know I'm going to shoot the ball. I want the ball in my hands and I just threw it up."
On playing against crowd:
"It's tough. They made me miss two free throws there at the end. It's not easy at all playing against a crowd like that. My mom always told me just to not worry about it and go out and play like it's at home. I just want to silence the crowd and play basketball. So that one goes to my mom."
On the game:
"I'm just excited for the team. We came out and guarded well, especially against Jordan Hill. He's a tough guy to guard. I was just happy about probably getting into the tournament. I wanted to lead the team to the NCAA Tournament, and make some noise ,and I worked hard all summer to get to that point and now here we are."
On going forward:
"We definitely don't want to step back and breathe too much. We definitely want to get a good seed in the Pac-10 Tournament. We got to go in to this game on Saturday and get it done."
On relying on the three:
"We know that (the threes) aren't going to fall every game. Other teams know that too. We have to find another way to get the ball in the basket."
