BERKELEY -
Cal Head Coach Jeff Tedford
On the performance in the second half
"It's a tremendous testament to them. I still believe in them, and I knew we could do some good things. It was a great team effort."
On the running game
"We're starting to get our identity up front, from the back understanding what they need to see and our linemen doing what they've been doing. It was a great job by our entire coaching staff"
On back-to-back wins
"It always felt like we have been better than what we've been showing. In my heart I felt like this team was capable of things. This week we were better about doing our job and our assignment. I noticed some guys getting used to playing next to each other."
On the offense
"The offensive line played well and the backs played hard. Keenan had a huge game. He's a go-to guy."
Cal wide receiver Keenan Allen
On the running game
"The run game definitely opened up some throwing lanes for us today."
Cal tailback C.J. Anderson
On the rushing attack
"We have one of the best running back groups in the country no matter who's out there."
Washington State Head Coach Mike Leach
On the overall play
"I think that we did some good things in the first half. I thought we got better this week. Nobody is pleased with the result, but I thought we played very hard. As far as winning individual battles, I thought we really tried to do that and we won a lot of them."
On the effort of the team
"I was proud of the effort. I was proud of how hard we played. I was proud of how excited we were to be out there on the field and battle. But we don't need to be satisfied with coming close."
On creating opportunities
"As far as opportunities, we left meat scraps all over the table. We had opportunities to win that game, there's no question about it. I think the biggest thing is just playing together consistently."
Washington State quarterback Jeff Tuel
On the play of the offensive line
"The o-line did a tremendous job all night. They really communicated things and sorted the blitzes out. Cal was giving us some pretty tough looks, with them dancing around up front. The o-line had a great amount of confidence tonight and it really helped the rest of the offensive. Any success that myself or the running backs had was a direct reflection of the offensive lines preparation this week."
On coming into the game
"When my number is called I try to come in there and do my best and move the ball."
On dropped passes
"We throw more balls than anybody in the country every day. There is no excuse for it. No excuse for me to throw the ball high, no excuse for him not to catch it. They have to come down with those balls, and I have to be more accurate."
