Bears Face Top 25 Test Against Sooners
12/19/2016 11:43 PM | Women's Basketball
LAS VEGAS - Cal puts its perfect record on the line Tuesday evening, facing No. 20 Oklahoma at 6:45 PT in the 2016 Puerto Rico Classic at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas. Tuesday's game marks the first time this season the Golden Bears will face an AP Top-25 opponent. Cal has been ranked 24th in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll each of the last two weeks.
Tuesday's contest marks the fourth meeting all-time between the Bears and Sooners. Cal leads the series 2-1, though Oklahoma prevailed in the last meeting, an 86-75 victory on December 13, 2008.
At 10-0, the Bears are off to the best start in program history and are one of only 10 undefeated teams left in Division I women's basketball. Senior Courtney Range - second on the team in both scoring and rebounding – had a season-high 28 points in Monday's victory over Southern Miss, and is now just 17 points shy of reaching the 1,000-point milestone. Sophomore center Kristine Anigwe, the second leading scorer in the Pac-12, added 18 points in only 20 minutes of action against the Lady Eagles, going a perfect 7-7 from the floor.
Oklahoma is 8-2 on the season, winning three straight after suffering back-to-back losses to No. 17 Kentucky and Oral Roberts in early December. Senior guard Peyton Little leads the Sooners in scoring, averaging 13.2 points per game, and is coming off a 19-point performance against the Musketeers.

LAST TIME OUT
Courtney Range scored a season-high 28 points to lead the Bears past Southern Miss, 71-51, on Monday afternoon on the first day of the 2016 Puerto Rico Classic at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas. REBOUNDS FOR RAMA
Rama N'diaye, a member of the Cal Women's Basketball team from 2006-2011, was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer this past July at the young age of 29. As a result of the side effects of her treatments, Rama has not been able to consistently work and therefore has sustained significant financial hardship.
It is our goal as a Cal Family to help support Rama in her fight against Breast Cancer emotionally, spiritually and financially. We've introduced Rebound for Rama to allow our extended Cal Family to participate in that end goal, once again proving that our support extends well beyond the hardwood. Donations may be made based on the number of total rebounds that the current Cal team secures over the course of this season or as a flat rate.
