BERKELEY - The Cal men's rowing team followed up its record-setting weekend at the Head of the Charles, with another productive weekend on the water, racing on both coasts to wrap up the 2017 fall racing slate.
On Saturday, the Golden Bears sent numerous boats to the familiar shores of Lake Natoma for the Head of the American. Cal saw productive results across the board, including sweeping the top three spots in both the men's open eight and men's open four events.
The following day saw a strong performance by Cal's freshmen, who competed in both the varsity eight and freshman eight races at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie. The Golden Bears won the freshman eight, finishing the three-mile course in a time of 12:45.5. Cal's freshman took fifth in the varsity eight race.
The Golden Bears will continue to build and train this fall before returning to competition in March 2018. The Golden Bears will host alumni Day on Match 10 before heading down the California coast for the San Diego Crew Classic on March 24 and 25.
