SCOUTING REPORT: LONG BEACH STATE
- The Dirtbags head to Northern California for a pair of mid-week non-conference games as they'll also play Stanford during the trek north. They'll have plenty of momentum to carry with them after sweeping nationally ranked Cal State Fullerton in Long Beach over the weekend to finish the series with an overall season record of 13-9.
- Lucas Tancas and Ramsey Romano have paced the Dirtbags offensively so far this season with Tancas hiting .359 and Romano checking in at .358. Luke Rasmussen leads the team in RBI with 18 but Long Beach State has five players with a double-digit RBI total.
- 14 different Dirtbags have seen time on the mound but relievers Josh Advocate, Connor Riley, Chris Rivera and Zak Baayoun have featured prominently out of the bullpen. Rivera leads the team in the save category with three while Advocate also has two.
- Cal owns an all-time series edge of 35-29 against the Dirtbags
- Cal and Long Beach State last met in 2012 with the Dirtbags taking two wins in a three-game series played in Long Beach. The Bears earned a 2-1 win in 10 innings during the weekend, led by a strong start from Matt Flemer, great relief from Logan Scott, a triple by Vince Bruno to lead off the 10th and a game-winning sacrifice fly by Chad Bunting.
