Cal Closes Hellman Homestand

BERKELEY – California ends its regular-season home schedule this week when the 49th-ranked Golden Bears host Sacramento State in a nonconference match on Thursday and No. 26 Oregon in a Pac-12 Conference match on Saturday at the Hellman Tennis Complex. Thursday's match was moved up from 1:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. to try to avoid bad weather later in the day. Saturday's match is set for 1:30 p.m. and had been originally scheduled for Friday at 1:30 p.m. But Friday rain forced the postponement of the Oregon match to Saturday.

The Bears have an 8-6 overall record (4-2 Pac-12), while the Hornets are (7-10, 5-2 Big Sky) and the Ducks are (12-6, 3-3 Pac-12).
Admission is free for regular-season tennis at Hellman.

Four Bears are ranked in this week's Oracle ITA singles rankings: Freshman Anna Bright (30-9) is 32nd, freshman Julia Rosenqvist (12-5) is 41st, junior Olivia Hauger (20-6) is 44th and senior Karla Popovic (1-2) is 90th. The pair of Hauger and Rosenqvist (3-3) is ranked 48th in doubles.
Oregon's Alyssa Tobita is ranked 94th in singles. In doubles, Tobita and Shweta Sangwan are ranked 27th, Tobita and Rifanty Kahfiani are ranked 64th, and Sangwan and Julia Eshet are ranked 69th.

California finished with a split in Arizona when the Golden Bears lost to No. 41 Arizona State, 4-0, on March 31 in Tempe. The Sun Devils clinched when Savannah Slaysman defeated Cal junior Maria Smith, 7-5, 6-3, at court-four singles. One day earlier, Smith defeated Arizona's Marie Van Aelst, 6-2, 6-4, on court four to clinch Cal's 6-1 victory over the Wildcats in Tempe.
Rosenqvist Named Pac-12 Player of the Week
Cal freshman Julia Rosenqvist claimed her first Pac-12 Player of the Week award on March 13 after posting upset victories in singles and doubles against USC and UCLA.
