STOCKTON – Senior Sam Ebstein scored his second goal of the season but it wasn't enough as the No. 14 Cal men's soccer team fell to No. 17 Pacific 2-1 in overtime Friday night at Knoles Field.

The Tigers scored first in the 22^nd minute and led 1-0 at halftime. But the Bears (2-1), who dominated the field in the second half, notched the equalizer when Ebstein fired off an unassisted rocket from the right side to tie the score in the 69^th minute.

Cal had a handful of other good scoring opportunities but couldn't find the back of the net again.

"It was a terrific match and we just fell a little bit short," Cal head coach Kevin Grimes said. "It looked like we may get a second goal in the second half and hopefully get away with a win in regulation, but that's just the way it goes sometimes."

The Bears outshot the Tigers 12-10 and goalie Drake Callender made four saves, including one as time expired in regulation.

UOP's Camden Riley ended the game with a header from a corner kick to provide the margin of victory.

"We came back from a goal down, which is always a great thing," Grimes said. "It takes great character to come back and get yourself back in the match. We played a terrific second half and OT."

The Bears will return to action Thursday when they take on Sac State in a special neutral site game at Avaya Stadium, the home of the MLS' San Jose Earthquakes. The game begins at 7 p.m. and admission and parking are free.
