Women's Gymnastics Looks To Continue Season-High Scoring Streak Saturday In Tucson

No. 12 California women's gymnastics takes on its second opponent in a six-day span as the Golden Bears head to Tucson, Ariz. to face the 23rd-ranked Wildcats on Saturday. Meet time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Arizona's McKale Center, with the action airing live on the Pac-12 Networks featuring Daron Sutton and JaNay Honest.
California is steadily on the rise after setting season-high scores in each of its first three meets. In the Bears' most recent matchup, Cal swept Stanford with a 196.575 plus three season-high event totals on Monday evening. Using RoadToNationals.com's daily rankings, the Bears have risen to the top 25 on all four events, including two top 10 averages on vault and bars. Cal also ranks 14th on floor and 15th on beam.
The Bears' lineup features depth on all four events and throughout the roster, with fifth-year senior Toni-Ann Williams and freshman Milan Clausi leading the way with a pair of event titles each this season. Clausi posted the team's highest score on any event thus far this season with a 9.925 on floor against Stanford to earn the second title of her career. The duo is among a group of four gymnasts, including Nina Schank and Kyana George, to win event titles for the Bears this season.

Cal set or matched three career-highs on floor, with Nina Schank making a 9.825 debut, Rachael Mastrangelo upping her high to 9.85, and Milan Clausi winning the title with a 9.925.

Using RoadToNationals' daily rankings, the Bears are currently ranked in the top 10 overall and on two events. Following the Stanford meet, Cal moved up to 8th overall with a 196.100 average, 7th on vault (49.108 average) and 9th on bars (49.108).

The Golden Bears took home five event titles against Stanford, led by Toni-Ann Williams' vault and beam titles. Kyana George also picked up a vault title, Nina Schank won bars and Milan Clausi was crowned floor champion.

The Golden Bears debuted in Berkeley with a resounding 196.575-196.125 win over Bay Area rival Stanford• Cal posted a season-high 196.575 team total to win the meet.

• Four gymnasts combined for five event titles, led by a pair of vault and beam titles for Toni-Ann Williams. She shared the vault title with Kyana George, while Nina Schank's 9.90 on bars helped her to the apparatus win. Milan Clausi's 9.925 on floor was a meet-high score to win the event.

RANKED ON THE ROAD TO NATIONALS
The Golden Bears opened 2019 at No. 8 in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association preseason poll as voted on by WCGA coaches. Cal's No. 8 ranking is its highest preseason ranking in school history, and it is the second time the Bears start the season in the top 10 after entering 2017 ranked No. 10 in the preseason poll. Last year, after earning a No. 11 preseason ranking the Bears finished at ninth overall after clinching their second NCAA Championship berth in the last three seasons.Cal is set to face 10 opponents ranked in the preseason poll: No. 4 LSU, No. 1 UCLA, No. 21 Stanford, No. 33 Arizona, No. 20 Arizona State, No. 24 BYU, No. 5 Utah, No. 17 Oregon State, No. 15 Washington and No. 22 Illinois.
