Cal Senior ILB Leads The Nation In Both Total And Solo Tackles
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Cal senior inside linebacker Evan Weaver continued to rack up the honors Wednesday when he was named a quarterfinalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy by the Pacific Club Foundation. The award, now in its 16th season, recognizes the player who makes the biggest IMPACT on his team both on and off the field. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.
The winner will be announced at a black-tie gala on Dec. 15 at the Pacific Club at Newport Beach. Joel Klatt of FOX will serve as the emcee.
The Pacific Club foundation will donate $25,000 to the general scholarship fund of the winners' university and $5,000 to each of three runner-up schools.
Weaver has also been selected as a Lott IMPACT Trophy Player of the Week twice in the first six weeks of the 2019 college football season, winning the honor outright in Week 2 after his 18-tackle performance at Washington and sharing the honor with Joe Bachie of Michigan State in Week 4 after making a career-high 22 tackles that also equaled the most in Cal football recorded history including a stop of Ole Miss quarterback John Rhys Plumlee just shy of Cal's goal line on the final play of a 28-20 win at Ole Miss. His two selections earned $2,000 for Cal's general scholarship fund.
Cal's Daymeion Hughes was the winner of the Lott IMPACT Trophy in 2006 while Jordan Kunaszyk was a semifinalist in 2018.

Cal Career (2016 – Present)
• Has played in 42 of 43 possible games with 24 starts since his arrival at Cal in 2016 and posted career totals of 314 tackles, 18.0 tackles for loss (-64 yards), 6.5 sacks (-37 yards), two interceptions that he has returned for 47 yards and one touchdown on a career-long 37-yard return against Washington as a 2018 junior, 10 pass breakups, 12 passes defended, one forced fumble and five quarterback hurries
• Ranks sixth both on Cal's all-time list of tacklers and among currently active FBS players
• Had a streak of 12 straight games with double-digit tackles that spanned the final seven games of his junior season and first five contests of his senior campaign
