Bears Meet Standards At Long-Course Meet In Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS – Cal closed out its visit to Minnesota Sunday with a number of Golden Bears taking part in a long-course time trial and a trio of swimmers hitting their U.S. Olympic Trials cuts.

In the 100-meter breaststroke, sophomore
Ema Rajic secured her place at trials with a time of 1:08.93, which also established a new Croatian record in the event.

Two Bears also earned spots at the trials in the 100-meter backstroke – freshman
Ayla Spitz (1:01.75) and senior
Aislinn Light (1:02.61).

Abbey Weitzeil (50m free, 24.70) and
Isabel Ivey (100m free, 55.17; 100m fly, 1:00.22) also swam below the trials standard in their events but had already qualified previously. Sophomore
Alicia Wilson of the United Kingdom swam lower than the mark in the 200m back, finishing in 2:14.39.

The U.S. Olympic Trials will be held June 21-28 in Omaha, Neb.
The Bears are coming off a weekend in Minneapolis in which they won 11 events, including all five relays, at the Minnesota Invitational. Individually, Weitzeil captured the 50-, 100- and 200-yard freestyle events, setting an American record in the 50 free (20.90).

Cal is back in action on Dec. 21 when the Bears host San Jose State in a dual meet at Spieker Aquatics Center, starting at 9 a.m.
