Rood Named All-American

BERKELEY – Even though California's last out came three weeks ago, the play of Lindsay Rood during her senior campaign continues to impress.

After leading the potent Pac-12, which now has three teams competing in the Women's College World Series, with 78 hits and a perfect 30 stolen bases through the regular season, Rood was named to Softball America's first-ever All-America team.

Finishing with a .396 batting average, the Danville, Calif., resident's third team selection follows other recognition this season as Rood also picked up her second-consecutive selection to the Pac-12's first team and NFCA All-Region second team.

A penchant for pilfering bags, Rood remains the lone player in the nation with at least 30 steals that has never been caught. Rood also led The Conference with 31 steals last season, being caught just once.

Rood is one of 17 players from the Pac-12 to be named, which ties with the SEC for the most of any conference.
