Vaughn, Lee Land More All-America Honors
Cal Teammates Recognized By Perfect Game And The NCBWA
Two more All-America baseball squads were announced Wednesday, with Cal well represented on each.
First baseman
Andrew Vaughn was a first-team pick by both Perfect Game and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, and catcher
Korey Lee earned second-team honors from Perfect Game and a third-team nod from the NCBWA.
The recognition is fitting for two players who anchored the middle of the Bears' lineup and wound up being first-round draft picks.
Vaughn, who's also up for national player of the year honors via the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy, finished second in the Pac-12 in on-base percentage (.539), fifth in batting (.374) fourth in slugging (.704) and second in walks (60).
Lee tied for seventh in the Pac-12 in homers (15) and RBI (57) while hitting .337.
Earlier this week, Vaughn made Baseball America's first-team All-America squad with Lee landing on the third team.
Both players also were named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-West Region Team.
The Chicago White Sox selected Vaughn third overall in last week's Major League Baseball Draft while the Astros took Lee 32
nd overall, marking the first year Cal had two players drafted in the first round.
