Biography

AS A JUNIOR (2019):
  • Enjoyed a big season in the middle of Cal's batting order, hitting .337 with 15 home runs, 12 doubles, a team-high 57 RBIs and a .619 slugging percentage.
  • Earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors, second-team All-America honors from D1Baseball.com, Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game and third-team All-America honors from Baseball America.
  • Drafted in the first round by the Houston Astros (32nd overall) and signed with the team in June 2019.
  • Tied for seventh in the Pac-12 in both homers and RBIs.
  • Threw out 12 of 30 attempted base stealers (40 percent).
  • Had a double, a homer and a Cal season-high six RBIs in March 31 victory over Long Beach State.
  • Posted a pair of two-homer games -- March 29 vs. Long Beach State and April 18 at No. 1 UCLA.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2018):
  • Appeared in 36 games and made 28 starts as a sophomore. Saw time at catcher, first base, third base, designated hitter and pitcher.
  • Hit .238 with five home runs, four doubles, 16 runs scored and 26 RBIs. Tied for fifth on the team in RBIs.
  • Had multiple hits in seven games and drove in multiple runs in a game five times.
  • Helped the Bears earn a mid-week win over Xavier on March 6 by going 3 for 3 with a double, home run and four RBIs. Also pitched an inning in his lone mound appearance of the year.
  • Finished the season on a high note with four hits in 10 at-bats at Arizona State. Also drove in three runs.
AS A FRESHMAN (2017):
  • Appeared in 28 games and made 18 starts behind the plate for the Bears.
  • Hit .277 with 18 hits in 65 at-bats, four doubles, three RBI and nine runs scored.
  • Collected his first collegiate hit in his first appearance, singling and driving in a run on Feb. 19 vs. Cal Poly.
  • Had multiple hits on four occasions and went 3 for 4 at No. 1 Oregon State on May 7.
  • Finished the year with his biggest hit of the season, a two-run double late in Cal's season-ending win at No. 15 Arizona.
  • Only made two errors and compiled a .984 fielding percentage.
  • Ranked seventh in the Pac-12 with nine men caught stealing.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL:
  • Attended Vista High School in Vista, Calif. where he compiled a career .347 batting average. Hit .407 as a senior in 2016.
  • First team All-Avocado League selection as both a junior and senior. Also named an All CIF-San Diego selection as a senior and earned the CIF sportsmanship award. Was a second team all-league performer as a sophomore and also earned the team’s Charlie Hustle award.
  • Helped Vista to a runner-up finish at the CIF Championships in 2016.
  • Also played three years of water polo and helped Vista win the Avocado League championship as a junior.
  • Was a student of the year finalist at Vista.
  • Counts body surfing, bowling and golfing among his hobbies.
  • Undeclared major intends to pursue coaching or sports psychology after college.
  • Parents are Darrin and Lisa Lee. Has two siblings, Kellen and Karissa.
