Cal to Face Aggies in Davis

Match Time 11am at Russell Field
BERKELEY – After going 3-0 at the Dennis Storer Classic to open the 2020 season, California rugby turns its focus to a matchup at UC Davis on January 25. Davis has rescheduled the match from the original 1:00 p.m. kickoff to now at 11:00 a.m. and they have cancelled the reserve-grade match.
Cal opened their season last weekend in Los Angeles, winning three matches against UC Santa Cruz, UC San Diego, and UCLA. The tournament saw 15 Golden Bears score 19 tries while 52 players received minutes including 41 different starters.
The Bears defeated UC Davis twice in 2019's 15's campaign including the last time Cal faced the Aggies which was on April 16 at home in the national postseason Round of 16. The Bears won that matchup. Cal will look to continue their winning streak against UC Davis when they face the Aggies at Russell Field this weekend.
"I am disappointed with the late cancellation of the reserve-grade match. We have players who need to play and with more time we could have scheduled another match." said head coach Jack Clark. "As I mentioned after last weekend, it feels like we are behind a bit and need every competitive minute we can get."
After traveling to Davis, the Bears will remain on the road the following week as they return to Southern California to face San Diego State (varsity and reserve-grade) on February 1.
