HARRISONBURG, Va. - UConn posted seven runs in the first two innings, including a five-run second inning, en route to an 8-0 victory over the California softball team in the championship game of the JMU Dukes Invitational on Sunday at Veterans Memorial Park on the James Madison campus.Â
The Golden Bears fell to 13-10 on the year.Â
UConn collected two runs off of a two-run home run in the top of the first to go up, 2-0. The Huskies belted a solo shot in the second to make it 3-0 before adding four more in the frame to take control of the game.Â

Makena Smith reached on an infield single. The sophomore standout now boasts an 18-game hitting streak.Â
The Bears will finish play at the JMU Dukes Invitational against host James Madison later today.Â
