Sirmon’s First-Team Selection Leads Eight On All-Pac-12 Team

Sheahan A Second-Team Choice; Earby, Hunter, Ott, Scott, Sturdivant And Woodson Honorable Mention

BERKELEY – Jackson Sirmon's first-team selection highlights eight Cal players honored on the 2022 All-Pac-12 Football Team announced by the conference Tuesday along with its annual performance awards and yearly recognitions. Jamieson Sheahan picked up second-team recognition, while Jeremiah Earby, Jeremiah Hunter, Jaydn Ott, Daniel Scott, J.Michael Sturdivant and Craig Woodson were honorable mention choices.

All Cal players were honored for the first time as Golden Bears with Sirmon having previously earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors in 2021 while playing at Washington.

Jeremiah Earby, CB, 6-2, 185, Fr., 1st Season At Cal (East Palo Alto, CA/Menlo-Atherton HS)
Freshman (2022)
– Earned second-team Freshman All-American honors from College Football News and was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection of the league's coaches
– Selected as a MIdseason True Freshman All-American by On3
– Played in all 12 games with seven starts all over the last eight contests including each of the final six
– Led the team with two fumble recoveries for 36 fumble return yards and had one of the team's fumble returns for a touchdown, while also co-leading the Pac-12 with a team-high 11 pass breakups
– Added 36 tackles that were the most among the team's cornerbacks, 0.5 tackles for loss (-1 yard) and one interception
 
Jeremiah Hunter, WR/RS, 6-2, 205, Jr., 3rd Season At Cal (Fresno, CA/Central HS)
Junior (2022)
– Earned second-team All-Pac-12 from Pro Football Focus and was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection of the league's coaches
– Played in and started 11 games while missing one full contest against Washington and part of another at Colorado due to injury
– Led team with career high 965 yards receiving while also establishing career bests of 60 receptions and five touchdown catches that were second-best on the squad, while adding career highs of 19 punt returns, 2023 punt return yards and 1168 all-purpose yards
– Ranks among Pac-12 and national leaders in receiving yards per game (87.7, #3 Pac-12, #19 NCAA), receiving yards (#5 Pac-12, #28 NCAA). receptions per game (5.5, #7 Pac-12, #47T NCAA) and receptions (#8 Pac-12, #51T NCAA)
Cal Career (2020 – Present)
– Has played in 20 games with 12 starts and is Cal's active career leader with 81 receptions and 1353 yards receiving while adding six touchdown catches
– Also Cal's active career leader with 20 punt returns, 210 punt return yards and 1353 all-purpose yards

Freshman (2022)
– Earned All-True Freshman team and third-team All-Pac-12 from Pro Football Focus, as well as second-team Freshman All-American honors from College Football News and was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection of the league's coaches
– Selected as a MIdseason True Freshman All-American by On3 and The Athletic, as well as a Midseason Freshman All-American by College Football News
– Played in all 12 games with starts in each of the last 10

– Ranks among PFF's top rated halfbacks in the nation with an 90.3 rushing run grade (#19) and an 85.2 rushing offensive grade (#25)
 
Daniel Scott, S, 6-2, 215, Sr., 6th Season At Cal (Pasadena, CA/St. Francis HS)
Senior (2022)
– Earned third-team All-Pac-12 honors from Pro Football Focus and was an honorable mention All-Pac-12 selection of the league's coaches
– Started all 12 games and contributed a career-high 85 tackles while adding 2.5 tackles for loss (-7 yards), a team-high and career-high-tying three interceptions that he returned a team-high and career-high 59 yards, a career-high four pass breakups and a career-high-tying two quarterback hurries
– Had interceptions in back-to-back contests vs. Arizona and at Washington State to mark the lone time in his career he had interceptions in back-to-back games, while picking up forced fumbles in each of his final two contests against Stanford and UCLA to mark his lone games with back-to-back forced fumbles
Cal Career (2017-22)
– Played in 49 games with 28 starts over five seasons (2018-22) after redshirting as a 2017 true freshman
– Registered 207 tackles, 7.0 tackles for loss (-44 yards), 1.0 sack (-27 yards), seven interceptions that he returned for 65 yards and one touchdown, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, seven pass breakups and four quarterback hurries
 
Jamieson Sheahan, P, 6-0, 205, Sr., 3rd Season At Cal (Bendigo, Australia/Geelong Grammar School)
Senior (2022)
– A second-team All-Pac-12 selection of the league's coaches
– Played in all 12 games and is second in the Pac-12 and 14th nationally with a 45.1 yards per punt average that was just 0.5 yards per punt below Bryan Anger's school-record 45.6 in 2010 with 20 of his 65 punts traveling 50 or more of the 2934 total yards accumulated including a career-long 65-yarder against UC Davis, while forcing 21 fair catches and pinning opponents inside their 20-yard line on 21 occasions, with all of the season-long numbers career bests other than fair catches
– Also attempted his first career kickoff with an unsuccessful onside try going 13 yards before being recovered by USC
– Holder on all 18 field goal and 32 extra-point attempts
Cal Career (2020-22)
– Played in 28 career games and averaged 43.51 yards per punt that is third on Cal's all-time list with his 141 punts covering 6135 yards while forcing opponents into 59 fair catches, pinning them inside their 20-yard line 34 times and recording 28 punts of 50+ yards
– Holder on all 38 field goal and 73 extra-point attempts from 2020-22

– Earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors from Pro Football Focus and in a vote of the league's coaches
– Started all 12 games and led the team in tackles (104) while adding 6.0 tackles for loss (-18 yards), 3.5 sacks (-12 yards), one interception that he returned one yard, four pass breakups, 37 fumble recovery yards, one fumble recovery touchdown and one forced fumble
– Ranks third in the Pac-12 and in both tackles and tackles per game (8.7) with his tackles tied for 27th nationally and his tackle per game tied for 38th
Collegiate Career (2018 – Present)
– Has played in 45 games with starts in each of the last 28 over the last five seasons spanning four campaigns at Washington (2018-21) and one at Cal (2022)
– Has compiled 252 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss (-28 yards), 3.5 sacks (-12 yards), two interceptions that he has returned 21 yards, three pass breakups, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 37 fumble recovery yards, one fumble recovery touchdown and one safety, while also rushing twice for six yards on fake punts

– Started all 12 games and led the team with 65 receptions and seven touchdown catches, while ranking second with 755 yards receiving
– Leads the nation's freshmen in receptions, receptions per game (5.4) and receiving yards, while ranking tied for second in touchdown receptions and third in receiving yards per game (62.9)
– Also among Pac-12 and national overall leaders in touchdown receptions (#6T Pac-12, #45T NCAA), receptions per game (#8 Pac-12, #50T NCAA), receiving yards (#11 Pac-12, #74 NCAA) and receiving yards per game (#11 Pac-12, #88 NCAA)
– Had at least three receptions and 45 yards receiving in each of his 12 contests

– Started a career-high all 12 games and contributed career highs of 75 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss (-8 yards), two interceptions that he has returned 41 yards including one for 39 yards and his lone career touchdown against UC Davis, one forced fumble, three pass breakups, two quarterback hurries
Cal Career (2019 – Present)
– Has played in 20 games with 14 starts since arriving at Cal as a true freshman in 2019 and posted career totals of 94 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss (-8 yards), five pass breakups, two interceptions that he has returned for 41 yards including one that he brought back 39 yards for a touchdown as a 2022 junior against UC Davis, one forced fumble, two quarterback hurries, and one blocked kick when he blocked a punt in the season-opener as a 2020 redshirt freshman at UCLA
