Bears Head To Napa For Silverado Showdown

Six Ranked Teams Among Large Field
The Cal women's golf team closes out the regular season this week at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, with 18 teams scheduled to be on hand at Silverado Country Club – including six ranked in the top-15.
The Bears are coming off a sixth place showing (out of 15 teams) at last month's Fresno State Classic, a tournament in which they improved their team score with each passing round. Senior Katherine Zhu finished in a tie for 11th out of 87 golfers at 3-over par.
The Silverado Showdown features No. 2 Oregon, No. 5 San Jose State, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 12 USC and No. 15 UCLA. Other Pac-12 teams in the field include Arizona, Colorado, Oregon State, Washington and Washington State.
Sophomore Mika Jin continues to lead the Bears in scoring average at 73.2. She and Zhu each have three top-20 finishes this season, and Jin has the only top-5 placement by a Cal player.
The tournament will serve as a final tune-up for the Bears before the Pac-12 Championships, which are scheduled for April 18-20 in Eugene, Ore.
