FAIRFAX – The California men's golf team will host the 19th annual Alister MacKenzie Invitational, which is slated to return to Meadow Club next Monday and Tuesday. The Golden Bears are the reigning tournament champions – having run away with the 2022 title at Sonoma Golf Club with a 21-under-par 843 performance last fall – and have won or shared the team title at the MacKenzie 12 times in its 18-year history dating back to 2002.
 
Cal will field two five-man lineups along with one individual in this year's edition of the tournament. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will feature 13 schools, including 10 from the Golden State. Competition begins Monday with 36 holes of continuous play starting at 8:15 a.m. PT with a shotgun start. Tuesday's third-round pairings will be determined by results following the first two rounds of play. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
 
The Bears are off to an impressive start this fall with top-three finishes at the Marquette Intercollegiate and Husky Invitational, followed by a victory against Stanford in the annual Big Match alongside the Cal women's team. Freshman Eric Lee, who will play in the No. 5 slot of Cal's "A" lineup next week, won co-medalist honors in his collegiate debut at the Marquette Intercollegiate and was recognized as the Co-Pac-12 Golfer of the Week for the performance, while senior All-American Sampson Zheng – Cal's No. 1 at the MacKenzie – was awarded the same honor following his seven-birdie effort at the Big Match.
