BERKELEY. – The California women's basketball team is set to host its annual School Haas Rock game when it faces Eastern Washington on Friday, Dec. 15 at 11:30 a.m. The annual event serves as an opportunity to entertain and educate local youth at the elementary and middle school levels and bring them into a university setting.

Geared towards classrooms, the event includes a special price of $3 per ticket. Students will have the option to bring their own lunch or pre-purchase a lunch for $7 at the arena if ordered by Dec. 5. Lunches can be ordered through the Cal ticketing office at goldstandard@berkeley.edu or by calling 1-800-GOBEARS.

Educators are encouraged to sign up their classroom or school as early as possible by contacting 1-800-GOBEARS.

"School Haas Rock is a game the team and I look forward to every year," Cal head coach Charmin Smith said. "Connecting with the community is an important part of being on this team. We enjoy bringing the local youth onto our campus. They get to leave the classroom for a day of learning and experience a university setting while we get to feed off the incredible energy they bring. It's a win-win all around."

Before the game, students will take part in an educational assembly that features visits from the Golden Bear community, fun and exciting learning opportunities, and more. In addition to the assembly, kids will receive a workbook that introduces the women's basketball players to kids and highlights the different cultures that are on the team.

Doors for the event will open at 10 a.m.
