Cal Begins 10-Game Stretch In The Bay Area
BERKELEY – The California baseball team returns to the Bay Area for the start of a season-long 10-game stretch of games played in the Bay Area with a nonconference clash at San Francisco on Tuesday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch and will be streamed on the WCC Network.
Tuesday's contest will be a matchup of .500 teams. Cal enters this week with a 10-10 overall record after losing two of three at Oregon State last weekend. USF is also 10-10 after snapping a six-game losing streak on Sunday, defeating Loyola Marymount 3-2 in 10 innings.

- After going 1-2 in Corvallis last weekend, Cal is 4-6 on the road this year. After starting the season 3-1 in true road contests, the Bears have lost five of their last six.
- Cal went 1-1 in 1-run games over the weekend and is 3-1 tight ballgames for the season. Under head coach Mike Neu, the Bears are 36-26 in games decided by a run.
- The Bears are hitting .221 as a team, led by Caleb Lomavita's .291 batting average (25-for-86).
- Cal's pitching staff sports an ERA of 4.03 as a unit, which ranks 31st (out of 295 teams) in the nation.
- The Bears' starting pitching boasts an ERA of 2.38. Paulshawn Pasqualotto earned his second win of the year on Saturday, throwing five shutout innings and allowing just one hit and one walk. Matt Lozovoy made his first appearance of the year on Sunday and threw 1.2 shutout innings.
- Bombs away: Cal has slugged six home runs over the last five games. Caleb Lomavita and Peyton Schulze have two each, while Jack Johnston and Dom Souto have one. As a team, the Bears have hit 24 home runs this year, with Lomavita and Rodney Green Jr. leading the squad with five apiece.
- Closing it out: Cal has been excellent at closing games out this year. When leading after six innings, the Bears are 9-1; when leading after eight, they are 7-0.
- In nonconference play, Green Jr. and Lomavita are hitting .341 (15-for-44) and .340 (16-for-47), respectively. Green Jr. has hit four of his five home runs against nonconference foes.
SERIES HISTORY
- Tuesday will be the 179th time the Bears and Dons have squared off. All time, Cal owns a 130-48 mark against USF. Last season, the Dons took the only matchup of the season, winning 14-1 on April 19 at Stu Gordon Stadium.
