Cal Signs Anastasia Drosouni For 2023-24 Season

Standout From Greece Joins Bears

BERKELEY – The California women's basketball team announced the signing of incoming freshman Anastasia Drosouni from Thessaloniki, Greece, to its roster for the 2023-24 season.

"We're thrilled to welcome Anastasia to the team," Cal head coach Charmin Smith said. "She will be part of a foundation that will help us build not only for next year, but also the future. Anastasia is a quick and athletic guard who brings versatility on the offensive side of the ball and size and aggressiveness on the defensive side. She is a great addition to our circle."

A 5-foot-11 guard, Drosouni will give the Bears length on the perimeter and versatility in the backcourt. She most recently played for Aris Thessaloniki in the A2 Ethniki Greek women's basketball league, in which she averaged 11.9 points, 5.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game in 2022-23, while shooting 49% from the field and 50% from distance. She also played on the Greek U18 team that competed in the FIBA U18 Women's European Challengers tournament in 2021 and on the Greek U14 team in 2018.

"I'm very excited and happy to have been given the opportunity to play at Cal," Drosouni said. "From the first moment, the players, the coaching staff and all the people here at Cal have made me feel like this will be my new home from now on. I'm really blessed that I will be playing for Charmin and will have the opportunity to learn the game from her. She was one of the main reasons that I chose Cal. I feel really thankful that I was accepted into this family and I promise that I'll do my best and we will make great things happen for the team."
