Jack Alexy Wins Bronze In 4x100 Freestyle Relay
Rising Junior Captures First Medal For Cal At World Championships
FUKUOKA, Japan– Rising junior
Jack Alexy and Team USA captured the bronze medal in the men's 4x100-meter freestyle relay on Sunday at Marine Messe Fukuoka Hall. Teammate
Dare Rose took second in the semifinals of the 50 butterfly and will compete for a medal in the finals on Monday.

Making his debut for Team USA on the international stage, Alexy swam the second leg of the relay with a split of 47.56. Team USA held off China for the final place on the medal podium, finishing with a time of 3:10.81. Australia captured gold, finishing with a time of 3:10.16, followed by Italy, taking silver at 3:10.49.

In the prelims of the 4x100 free relay, Team USA grabbed the top spot in the finals with a time of 3:11.63. Rising junior
Destin Lasco swam the second leg of that race in a time of 47.95. It was also Lasco's debut at Worlds; he will also swim in the 200 backstroke later this week.

Rose continued his impressive run this summer. His time of 22.79 in the 50 fly semis was a new personal best and the third fastest time in U.S. history. Rose's previous PR in the event was 23.16, set at the Phillips 66 National Championships earlier this summer. The finals for the 50 fly will take place on Monday at 4:46 a.m. PT.
