Scouting the Competition
The Huskies come into the single-match weekend with an impressive overall record of 5-1-2. UW's only loss of the season came in late August to No. 14 Santa Clara, a team that the Bears tied with a few weeks later. Since that loss, the Huskies have gone 4-0-1 and have a goal differential of 12-2.

Spreading the Love
The Bears have scored 12 goals off of nine different boots this season. Junior forwards Karlie Lema (3) and Velize King (2) have each found the back of the net twice and seven other Bears have chipped in a single goal.

Defending Edwards
The recent homestand was good to the Bears, who hold a 2-1-2 record at Edwards Stadium so far. Over the five matches, Cal earned two shutouts and allowed just three goals, two of which came via penalty kicks. The Bears currently boast an 8-3 goal differential while playing on their home field.

Lema Named Pac-12 Offensive Player of The Week
Junior forward Karlie Lema was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 4. The first weekly honor in Lema's career came on the back of Cal's first two victories of the season. Lema netted a pair of goals and had an assist in the two contests for a total of five points. In Cal's 5-1 win over San Francisco in its home opener, Lema assisted on the first goal of the match. It was her first of the season and third of her career. She went on to score a brace against Cal Poly, notching the only two goals of the game in the 2-0 victory on the only two shots she took. She is the first Bear to earn a weekly award this season.

Bears Picked Fourth in Pac-12 Preseason Coaches Poll
Cal was picked to finish fourth in the annual Pac-12 preseason coaches poll. It's the Bears' highest placement in the poll since 2018 and matches their 2022 finish. UCLA was picked to finish first, followed by Stanford in second and USC in third. Rounding out the top five was Washington State.

Wy Named Preseason All-Pac-12
Sophomore goalkeeper Teagan Wy was named to the inaugural preseason All-Pac-12 team as voted on by the conference's head coaches. Wy spent 165 minutes between the posts last season as a freshman and did not allow a goal in her five appearances. In May, the Rancho Santa Margarita native earned a spot on the U.S. Women's Youth National Team's CONCACAF U-20 roster and helped lead her country to a second-place finish in the prestigious tournament. She started in four of the team's five matches and earned three wins, including a shutout.
