BERKELEY – California track & field hopes to keep its streak of success going Saturday, sending its sprinters, jumpers and middle-distance runners to San Diego to compete at the Aztec Invitational held at SDSU Sports Deck.

The meet will feature 18 teams from Division I, as well as two teams from Division II and several dozen additional athletes. The Golden Bears have a total of 39 athletes slated to compete.

Last week, the Bears had an impressive outing at the Hornet Invitational, earning Pac-12 Field Athlete of the Week honors for seniors Mason Mangum and Amari Turner after the former leaped an NCAA-leading 7.86mw (25-9.5) in the long jump and the latter broke an outdoor program record with a mark of 4.32m (14-2) in the pole vault.

Cal also recorded an additional six program top 10s in Sacramento. Three of those were in the 100m, with juniors David Foster (10.24 – No. 2) and Chase Williams (10.38 – No. 5) racing on the men's side and classmate Makhaila Mills (11.60 – No. 8) on the women's. Senior Jazlynn Shearer's 13.48 in the 100m hurdles improved her No. 5 ranking on the program all-time list, while sophomores Georgia McCorkle (3000m steeplechase – 10:30.92) and Caden Carney (3000m – 8:12.57) moved up to No. 6 and No. 9 in their respective events.
