BERKELEY - California track & field will send 30 athletes – 15 men and 15 women – to the NCAA West Regionals next week in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where the region's top-48 individual athletes and top-24 relay squads (minus scratches) will compete at John McDonnell Field from May 22-25 for a coveted spot at the NCAA Championships in June.

The Golden Bears' eight individual sprinters will need to pass two rounds to earn one of 12 qualifying spots for the NCAA Championships, while their men's 4x100m relay squad and field event entries will only need to compete in a single day's contest to clinch advancement. In total, Cal has entries listed in 17 events; 10 of those athletes will be competing in their first-career regional meet, while an additional three – Jada Hicks, Jeff Duensing and Ivar Moisander – sit on the other side of the pendulum swing with four career regional appearances.

Currently, the Bears boast 10 top-12 regional entries. David Foster ranks No. 3 among men's 100m runners in the West, as well as anchors the No. 12 4x100m relay squad that also includes Chase Williams, George Monroe and Mason Mangum. Duensing (men's shot put) and Skyler Magula (men's pole vault) will each be the No. 4 seeds in their respective events, while Moisander ranks No. 12 in the men's hammer. The latter event also contains Cal's top seed of the competition, who is also No. 1 in the NCAA, in Rowan Hamilton. A three-time NAIA hammer champion, Hamilton boasts a PR of 77.16m (253-2) that surpasses the John McDonnell Field facility record by over four meters. On the women's side, discus throwers Caisa-Marie Lindfors and Jasmine Blair rank No. 1 and No. 4 in the West Region, respectively, while pole vaulter Amari Turner has the No. 6 seed and Hicks the No. 11 qualifying time in the 100m hurdles.

Four Bears are slated to compete in multiple events – Foster and Williams in the men's 100m and 4x100m relay; Mangum in the men's 4x100m relay and long jump; and Aysha Shaheed in the women's 100m and 200m.
