Quiroga Named Pac-12 Freshman Of The Week
Los Angeles Native Hit Three Home Runs In Series Win Over Oregon State
California catcher
Lagi Quiroga was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week on Monday after a standout weekend during the Golden Bears' series win over Oregon State at Levine-Fricke Field.
Quiroga hit .500 (6-for-12) for the week, collecting three home runs, one double and four RBI. She homered in each of the three games vs. the Beavers, moving into a tie for the conference home run crown with teammate
Elon Butler.Â
The Los Angeles native led off Sunday's game against OSU with a home run and recorded two hits in both the Saturday and Sunday matchups while also picking off a base runner as the Bears everyday starter at catcher.
Quiroga is the third Cal player to earn a conference weekly honor this season and first to pick up the Freshman of the Week nod.
Acacia Anders (March 25) and
Elon Butler (Feb. 19) earned Pac-12 Player of the Week recognition earlier this year.
Quiroga also joins Anders (March 21, 2022) and Butler (April 3, 2023) in receiving a Freshman of the Week honor and becomes only the third Bear to earn the accolade since Lindsay Rood on May 2, 2016.
