Record-Setting 59 Golden Bears Head To Paris
56 Athletes, 3 Coaches Descend Upon 2024 Summer Olympics
BERKELEY – A record-setting 58 Golden Bears will be on hand for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

The Summer Games begin Thursday for Cal's contingent, with women's soccer alumna
Ifeoma Onumonu competing for Nigeria in group play. The Opening Ceremony is on Friday, and the Olympics run through Aug. 11.

The 58 Golden Bears in Paris are comprised of 55 athletes and three coaches. Swimming leads the way with 22 representatives – 20 total men's and women's swimmers, along with Cal director of swimming & diving
David Durden serving as an assistant coach for Team USA – while rowing is well represented with 15 athletes across men's and women's competition.

Cal has Olympic representatives in field hockey, men's golf, men's and women's track & field and men's and women's water polo, as well as non-varsity sports badminton and table tennis. Seven of Cal's returning Olympians are medalists, highlighted by Team USA swimming captains
Ryan Murphy, a six-time medalist, and
Abbey Weitzeil, a four-time medalist.
