Cal Grad Student Recognized By College Sports Communicators

California football graduate student Craig Woodson has been selected to the Academic All-America Second Team, College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced Tuesday morning. This is the first Academic All-America honor for the Golden Bear after earning three consecutive Academic All-District recognitions from 2022-24.
 
Woodson, who studies film and media, started all 13 games for the Bears as a sixth-year senior in 2024. A team captain and one of Cal's most productive defensive backs, Woodson recorded 70 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions and one fumble recovery while defending seven passes. He was named to the All-ACC Third Team as a safety.
 
To qualify for the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America football team, student-athletes must meet the following criteria: Be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average and compete in 90% of the institution's games or start in at least 66% of the institution's games.
